A decision has been made to establish the Advisory Board of Plekhanov University in Dubai.
On October 10, 2024, during the grand opening ceremony of Plekhanov University in Dubai, a business session was held on international formats for workforce development in the data economy. During the meeting, participants agreed to establish an Advisory Board, which will be tasked with developing strategies for the future growth of Plekhanov University in Dubai and its integration into the global digital economy. This initiative was proposed by Svetlana Malkarova, Director of Plekhanov University in Dubai. She emphasized the fundamental importance of international collaboration between universities, businesses, and research organizations and expressed her gratitude to her colleagues for supporting the idea of creating the Advisory Board.
The discussion was attended by Dmitry Shtykhno, Vice-Rector for Strategic Affairs of Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, Mikhail Brovko, Vice-Rector for International Affairs of Sechenov University, Igor Morozov, Rector of IT Academy, Makary Herman, Deputy Trade Representative of the Russian Federation to the UAE, Ahmed Al Zarooni, CEO of Linkconnects, and other representatives from the education and business sectors. The session was moderated by Gleb Fomin, Managing Partner at Consigliere Group.
The session focused primarily on exploring new models of workforce development essential for successful operations in the context of digital transformation and the evolving data economy. Other topics discussed included international cooperation in education, the integration of IT technologies into academic programs, and the role of industrial partners in training highly qualified professionals.
The agenda also covered related issues, such as leveraging experiences from various educational systems to support the development of the UAE’s economy, attracting global technology companies through the training of data economy specialists, and addressing existing barriers to international integration of education, science, and business. Participants also shared their views on the competencies future professionals will need in light of the rapid advancement of IT technologies.
